Flash drives are known to be compact by definition, but Verbatim seems to have taken the aspect of miniaturization up to eleven when it designed the Store ‘n’ Stay model, despite managing to cram up to 16 GB of storage into it.

When making an USB drive, companies have a choice between sticking to standard features or focusing on one, more or all elements that can make it stand out.

This is what led to the existence of so many models today, many of which grab attention through compactness, performance, design or capacity, or more than one of these assets.

In this particular case, Verbatim is the one unleashing a new flash drive, one whose most striking trait is the fact that it is as small as a coin.

Dubbed Store 'n' Stay, it works on the USB (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0 interface and can have 4 GB, 8 GB or 16 GB of storage space.

“The low-profile, snag-free design makes it the optimal USB flash drive choice for laptop users who want the ability to transfer, store and share their favorite files on impulse,” said Mark Rogers, Verbatim Product Manager, Flash Memory.

“It’s meant to be left in the USB port for always-ready storage, and can be easily removed to share videos, photos, and music whenever the occasion arises!”

Armed with a limited lifetime warranty, the newcomer should already be up for order at $19.99 (4 GB), $29.99 (8 GB) and $59.99 (16 GB).

All three are compatible with Linux Kernel 2.6 or higher, Max OS 9 or higher, Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows 7.

Of course, those that aren't specifically looking for something as small as possible might benefit more from what Sony recently showed off, or, if security is what one seeks, Lexar Media's Echo MX and ZX.
