They have brown or black leather garments

Many arguably unusual inventions have cropped up on the IT market over the years, and companies sometimes decide to just let their imagination run wild and experiment with differing degrees of novelty, or outright absurdity when they pull a publicity stunt. Verbatim did not exactly go so far when it designed its so-called “Wallet Drive.” Still, it did take liberties with what a portable hard drive is “supposed” to look and feel like, so much so that it decided to imitate another type of item that almost everyone uses.

As the name suggests, the Wallet Drive imitates the shape, form and use of a wallet. What Verbatim did was cover the storage devices in leather, patched and stitched together to look exactly like one's cash container. The product, or products since there are multiple capacity and color options, haven't yet show up on the official website. Still, Chip Chick reports that it is only a matter of time, and a short time at that, before they do.

The Verbatim so-called Wallet Drive is currently known to have two capacity options, namely 320 GB and 500 GB. Unfortunately, the other specifications are not known at this time. This means that there is no way of knowing what the rotary speed of the platters is, nor is the exact type of USB connection made plain. Granted, the fact that the product is bundled with the turbo USB software seems to imply that Verbatim stuck to USB 2.0 instead of going for the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard. The only other detail so far disclosed is that the bundle also includes the Nero BackItUp and Burn software.

The Wallet Drive has two color options. One is patched in brown leather, whereas the other one is black. There is no indication of how much these newcomers cost, however, so users will just have to wait and see.
