End-users have reached a stage where they are no longer surprised if they see a handheld device capable of storing more data than the average desktop PC. For this reason, it is quite likely that Verbatim's Pocket Hard Drive's being “small outside, huge inside” didn't surprise many people. The storage device is a slim, polished, black portable hard drive unit, which is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

The hard drive is made of strong and solid aluminum but has a highly polished piano-black surface. The device measures 90 x 64 x 14 mm and weighs a mere 85 grams. As one can see, the drive is palm-sized and, to enable end-users to determine the operational mode of the product, the Pocket Hard Drive is built with a blue LED on the front.

The drive is more than just a data carrier, as it is built with extra features, such as Dmailer backup software, for better data reliability, and Sync software. The latter works on all file formats and synchronizes mail boxes with website details, such as favorites, which are saved in the browser.

“With our Pocket Drive, we are satisfying the needs of users who require lots of storage capacity in a compact, stable and stylish device,” Kai Miroschnik, business development manager, HDD Verbatim EUMEA, explains.

The drive is already available in Europe, is FAT formatted for compatibility with multiple operating systems, not only Windows 7, Vista and XP, but also Mac OS. It comes bundled with a black draw string carry pouch, is backed by a limited, two-year warranty and sells for 125 Euro. The package will also include the required USB cable and even a Quick Start Guide written in 27 different languages.

The Verbatim Pocket Hard Drive is yet another invention in the company's long history of storage-solution development. The company has been developing products ranging from floppy disks and magneto-optical storage media, CDs and DVDs to the latest high-definition media Blu-rays since 1969. The company also provides other computing solutions, such as portable USB drives, flash memory cards, SSDs and, of course, external hard drives.
