When people heard that actress Melanie Griffith and actor Antonio Banderas were getting a divorce, the first question that popped into their mind was “what was she going to do about the tattoo?” In case you didn't know, Melanie had Antonio's name inscribed on her arm in the middle of a heart tattoo some years ago.

Whereas most people choose to write “Mom” or the name of a dear departed family member, Melanie chose to have her husband's name forever etched onto her skin, a decision she now probably regrets deeply as she filed for divorce at the beginning of the month.

Judging by the fact that last week she came out for an Italian film festival with just the name on her arm covered in make-up but today she has decided to cover it all up, we can safely assume that the actress is determined to show people she's moved on completely from her marriage, and she's not crying over losing Banderas to some other women, as it's been speculated.

Appearing at the same film festival in Taormina, Italy, yesterday, the actress covered the big heart tattoo on her right arm with plenty of foundation, but she also chose to reveal the cover-up operation by wearing a strapless, sleeveless gown.

Some would say that this is the biggest diss to Antonio Banderas, but we suspect that he doesn't feel the hate these days. A report from a couple of days ago indicated the Spanish actor had long since given up on his marriage and mounted a virtual cheating campaign on his wife to determine her to file for divorce, just to keep up appearances.

If the report from an anonymous insider is to be believed, Antonio chose to act in this way because he didn't want to seem that he was abandoning the family, his wife of almost 20 years and his 17-year-old daughter. Instead, he sneakily drove Melanie into filing the divorce, so that people wouldn't be holding him accountable.

Melanie seemed all smiles as she appeared on stage to present an award, with a slightly darker patch of skin on her arm. Some would say that she's no longer wearing her heart on her sleeve, but Melanie made sure everyone saw the cover-up.

This declaration of “war” seems to enforce the theory according to which Antonio and Melanie didn't finalize their marriage “in a loving and friendly way,” as the official statement would lead us to believe, but quite the opposite, in fact: hateful and bitter, with a possible side of revenge.

There is no doubt that the actress is going to have it removed as soon as possible, but it's going to take some time, because having it lasered off usually takes a couple of sessions done in the span of at least several weeks.
