One has to admit that is can sometimes prove rather difficult to eat healthy when one works fairly long hours in an office, and vending machines are one's main source of food.

The good news is that, thanks to a small company, things could soon take a turn for the better.

Thus, the kiosk pictured above, dubbed Farmer's Fridge, is fairly similar to a vending machine, except that, instead of fast food, it coughs out fresh salads, yogurt parfaits and veggie sticks.

According to Tree Hugger, two such kiosk are currently up and running in Chicago, US. There is one at the Garvey Food Court, and one at the Lake Forest Tollway Oasis, the same source details.

The vending machines, which their makers like to call “veggie machines,” are stocked every morning with fresh produce.

Whatever healthy treats are not eaten is collected at the end of the day and donated to a soup kitchen, so food waste is not an issue.

Besides, the kiosks are made from reclaimed wood barn, which makes them even more environmentally friendly.
