Veeam Software has been for a very long time a provider of solutions for VMWare environments, and the company has recently announced the release of a free edition of its much appreciated Veeam Reporter for VMware.

Veeam Software has gradually become the main creator of disaster recovery, data protection and systems management utilities designed exclusively for VMware virtual datacenters.

The release of the free version of Veeam Reporter will offer all VMware administrators the possibility to test and to use the Veeam advantages, such as its change management, capacity planning and enterprise reporting and chargeback.

The core functionalities of Veeam Reporter have been included in its free edition, like Microsoft SQL Server backend, multi-user support and comprehensive data collection.

Despite being offered at no cost, Veeam Reporter Free Edition does not restrict the number or hosts, virtual machines and users, or the size of the archive.

“Veeam has a long history of providing free management tools for VMware professionals, beginning with Veeam FastSCP and continuing with Veeam Monitor Free Edition and Veeam Business View,” said the Veeam President and CEO, Ratmir Timashev. “We know that VMware administrators sometimes operate under budgetary constraints, so we provide free tools to help them get the job done. Unlike free trial software, our free products don’t have an expiration date.”

Needless to say, purchasing a license will bring additional features to Veeam Reporter Free Edition, without needing to download and install another file.

The existence of a license file will unlock the following functions of the full Veeam Reporter: · Full capacity planning (report pack) · Historical change management (beyond the most recent 24 hours) · Microsoft Visio reports for multipathing, network, vMotion and data store utilization · Full access to archive data (for example, to create custom reports or update a configuration management database or CMDB) · Dashboard capabilities · Automatic report distribution
