Vectorform DJ is one of the first applications to come to Windows Phone 7, and which developers will be able to take advantage of as soon as the new WP7 devices become available, starting later this month. Windows Phone 7 makes possible an entirely new range of applications compared with the apps previously available for Microsoft’s Windows platform for mobile devices. Case in point: Vectorform’s adaptation of Surface DJ for Windows Phone 7.

With Vectorform DJ, users will have at their disposal a music composer designed to take advantage of the multi-touch interaction model of the new smartphones sporting the latest iteration of what used to be referred to as Windows Mobile.

If you think that Vectorform sounds familiar is because this is the same company that adapted The Settlers of Catan for Microsoft Surface, the software giant’s tabletop computer.

For the Vectorform DJ, Vectorform partnered with Microsoft Germany, with representatives from the company noting that the application will hit the Windows Phone Marketplace this week, as a way to contribute to the celebration of Windows Phone 7’s launch.

Microsoft launched Windows Phone 7 on October 11th, 2010, announcing no less than nine devices from companies such as HTC, Dell, LG and Samsung.

New Windows Phone 7 devices will hit store shelves in European markets on October 21 and in the U.S. on November 8.

The Vectorform DJ music composer offers a library of 40 musical loops authored by by Vectorform’s own DJ and Producer Kevin Foreman, and five default songs to get the users started.

The app enables Windpws Phone 7 users to not only mix new tracks, but also record and playback tracks.

“Our team is passionate about music, and they are passionate about technology. The international launch of Windows Phone 7 is a perfect way for us to celebrate how music and emerging technology can inspire people,” noted Vectorform President Jason Vazzano.

According to Vectorform, the RTM version of Windows Phone Developer Tools was used in order to put together Vectorform DJ.

Microsoft signed off on the Windows Phone Developer Tools the past month, on September 16. The tools are of course available to all developers that want to target Windows Phone 7.
