One of the big Electronic Arts linked disappointments of E3 2012 was that no new content was announced for the Sims franchise.

Yet, the publisher has rectified that omission by announcing that during September of this year gamers will be able to pick up the Supernatural Expansion Pack for the game.

It will introduce a number of new character types, ranging from witches and vampires to fairies and werewolves.

The Supernatural expansion also allows gamers to battle zombie hordes in their houses and towns and will also allow Sims fans to learn powerful spells, a number of potions and magical abilities for all their characters.

The game also gets new abilities, new skills, new traits and ways of interacting with the world around them, including lycanthropy and the ability to charm others.

The new town of Moonlight Falls also displays hidden areas, including one gothic cave and a magic mirror.

When the announcement was made, Scott Evans, who is the general manager of The Sims Studio, stated that “With a variety of deep and mysterious supernatural lifestyles to choose from, The Sims 3 Supernatural allows players to dive into powerful new gameplay that showcases a darker side of The Sims.”

The developer believes that, “This pack introduces a fresh perspective while maintaining the characteristic playfulness, humor and innovation of our studio. With The Sims 3 Supernatural, we are adding a wealth of rich creative possibilities, surprising new content and intriguing storylines to the world of The Sims 3.”

Those who are willing to pre-order The Supernatural expansion will also get Limited Edition content linked to Plants vs. Zombies, which includes zombie attacks and new outfits for the Sims.

At the moment the Supernatural expansion for The Sims 3 is only prepared for the PC and the Mac, but it’s safe to assume that some of it will also be deployed on home consoles.
