Mayhem Studios announces Vampire Story, an adventure role playing game to be released at the end of this year or the beginning of 2007. The game's website recently came online and we can see the first screenshots as well a full feature list. The game has no connection whatsoever with the similarly titled project announced a couple of years ago by Autumn Moon Entertainment, which eventually became "A Vampyre Story".

Just who are Mayhem Studios? The Slovakian initiative helped in the development of six computer games, over the last six years, mostly on graphics and animation works. Moreover, the studio released four titles of its own, Lost Island (1999), Empire of Magic (2002), Shadow Vault (2004) and Neverend (2005).

Vampire Story uses its own game engine that has been in development at Mayhem over the past five years. The new Active Time Battle System improves regular combat dynamics and gives the possibility to use a lot of hits, blows, weapons and special combos, developers say, similar to the Final Fantasy series. The opportunity to create your own spells using the rune system as well as non-linear dialogue branching are not to dish out either.

In line with vampires lurking in darkness, the storyline will take players to four different locations: abandoned docks, the lighthouse district, an old factory and a merchant ship. Mayhem assures us graphics are styled in such a way that players will be engulfed in the dark yet rich atmosphere.
