14 DAY TRIAL // Valve boss Gabe Newell has confirmed that his studio won’t announce anything new at E3 2012 in June, as it will show projects that have already been presented to the world, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Dota 2.
While it may be one of the most popular videogame developers out there, Valve has tested the patience of its fans time and time again by declining to reveal anything about some of its major projects, like the oft-rumored Half-Life 3 (aka Half-Life 2: Episode 3).
Even so, fans are still confident that the company is taking its time before announcing big projects at major conventions, like the upcoming E3 2012, which takes place in Los Angeles at the beginning of June.
According to Valve boss Gabe Newell, however, fans shouldn’t expect anything new from the studio at the convention in California, as he confirmed to the ValveTime website that the developer will only present projects which are already known, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Dota 2.
"We are not announcing anything at E3 Really. We are not announcing Half-Life 3 or Portal 3 or Left 4 Dead 3. We are going to be showing stuff everyone already knows about (CS:Go, Dota 2, 10' UI, ...)," Newell said in an email to the website.
The Valve boss also confirmed this to several fans who asked him about the statement, so it’s pretty much certain that fans won’t be surprised with the announcement of a new game from the independent developer.
While this statement is certain to get some fans upset, Valve knows what it’s doing so, if it won’t reveal anything, it probably means that its current projects aren’t ready for the public.
