Iconic television actress Valerie Harper has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, as she confirmed herself in last week’s issue of People magazine. NBC will air today a lengthy interview with Harper and Savannah Guthrie.

A preview for it is embedded below, at the end of this post.

Harper received the shocking diagnosis in December, with doctors telling her she has just 3 months to live. However, she’s “not dying until I do, I promise,” she says with a smile.

The star has promised herself and her loved ones to live in the moment and not focus too much on the inevitable end.

She’s still hoping for a miracle, though, but she’s not living the rest of her life waiting for it.

Harper is her usual sunny self in the interview (at least in the video below), but her voice falters and tears well in her eyes when she talks about her husband.
