Since the switch to Intel, Macs have become the most versatile of computers, being able to run OS X, Windows and Linux. The choices on how you want to run multiple operating systems are as divers as the operating system choices themselves. Apple lets you set up a multi boot system, while Parallels offers a virtual machine solution, and now VMWare is also stepping up to offer theirs.

The Mac version of VM Fusion, a desktop application that lets you create and run virtual machines has reached build 33141 and is currently in beta. VMware's first Mac product, Fusion, provides an intuitive interface for creating virtual machines and running preconfigured ones created with VMware Workstation, VMware Server, and ESX Server. It also lets you download virtual machines from the VMware Technology Network (VMTN) Website, which has a growing library of virtual appliances with a wide range of pre-installed and preconfigured applications and operating systems.

Fusion supports all the new Mac hardware, including the 64-bit processors present in the new Mac Pros and iMacs, and lets you take advantage of multiple processors. It also offers support for high-speed USB 2.0, and simple drag and drop ease when moving files in and out of a virtual machine.
