“You never know what is going to happen,” says exec

Miley's performance at last year's VMAs was so provocative and raunchy that it not only got Robin Thicke divorced (grabbing fans' bottoms in photos didn't really help his case), but it also caused a massive wave of outrage among parents.

This time is no different, and as the 2014 VMAs are getting ready to take over the television screens, parents associations are firing off letters of warning to the television network, asking it to tone down the adult content.

Their reply? “The beauty of the VMAs is we never know what’s going to happen. We put the best artists and some of the world’s most interesting personalities in one room, sit back and watch the magic happen,” said Amy Doyle, executive producer for the MTV Video Music Awards, quoted by Fox.

Although they don't plan to bring back Miley and her twerk-fest, the producers are holding back because of a few bad reviews and complaints.

In fact, their only plan is to outdo themselves, “Every year there is an expectation for unpredictable moments, this year that expectation feels heightened because last year is still fresh in everyone's minds. By design, each year we re-invent the show so it feels uniquely fresh.”

Most of the complaints from last year were that MTV used the TV-14 rating inappropriately and children were left to watch mature content as a result.
