14 DAY TRIAL // Amber Rose wants your attention. The former video vixen and glamour girl showed up at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards 2014 on the arm of her husband Wiz Khalifa, wearing nothing but chains. Seriously, she had her modesty covered by chains weaved together to look like something that might have been a dress once.
For that and for the fierce attitude with which she rocked that “dress” on the red carpet, Amber deserves a round of applause. You know, as compensation for the fact that she’s topped most worst dressed lists already.
Check out the two photos in the gallery to see Amber’s dress in detail, but even without visual aid, a description of it would sound something like this: she had chains covering her breasts and ample bum, and the smallest pair of panties to protect her modesty. The rest was all in plain sight.
On Twitter, Amber ID-ed the designer of this item that got everyone talking about it: “Dress by the talented @laurel_dewitt thank u beautiful,” she wrote. Other posts on her social media feed confirm that she was convinced the dress was beautiful and edgy.
We don’t know about beautiful OR edgy, but it was certainly a bold choice to make on a red carpet. Indeed, all MTV awards shows are the best place to experiment with fashion, but a “dress” like this takes experimenting and puts it into an entire league of its own, because it’s close to walking down the red carpet in the nude.
In all fairness, Amber isn’t the first and will certainly not be the last to don such an outrageous outfit. The one that inspired her was worn by Rose McGowan at the 1998 edition of the awards show, when she came as Marilyn Manson’s date. To put it simply, Rose left absolutely nothing to the imagination in her non-existent dress.
Amber even took to Twitter to thank Rose for being “a fabulous trendsetter” and her inspiration when she put the outfit together. In response, the former “Charmed” star congratulated her on a job well done and told her to pay no attention to the “hand wringers.”
Those would be the haters telling her she should be ashamed for stepping out of the house like that because, while flashing some skin at an event of this type may bring extra publicity and boost your profile, by flashing all your skin you just come across as desperate and tasteless.
