14 DAY TRIAL // It seems that not all news comes from CeBIT today. While companies are getting out of their way surprising consumers with the wide variety of motherboards, graphics cards, memory devices and all other types of hardware, other companies, such as VIA, are going about their business and steadily yielding new products for the industrial sector. The latest device released by VIA is an embedded box system that consumes “ruthlessly low power” and has no moving parts.
The lack of moving parts implies that the ruggedized box system ART-3000 comes without fans. The product also boasts diskless booting and resistance to vibration and shock. The system itself is built around the VIA EITX-3000 board, which runs on a 1.3GHz VIA Nano processor and the VIA VX800 media system processor. The board also supports up to 2GB of DDR2, comes with VIA Chrome 9 graphics and the VIA Chromotion video engine.
"The VIA ART series really underlines our strength in offering system level products that exceed expectations," Daniel Wu, vice president, VIA Embedded Platform Division, VIA Technologies, Inc., said. "Customers can now take advantage of a complete fanless, ruggedized system that offers incredible flexibility, a wide feature set, and excellent stability straight out of the box."
VIA ART-3000 – A Wealth of Features
The VIA ART-3000 has support for three displays and can output two independent content streams across VGA and LVDS ports. The system also boasts dual Gigabit Ethernet, USB connectivity, multiple VESA mounting options and the ability to withstand temperatures of -20°C to 60°C,. Lastly, the exact vibration and shock resistances of the machine are of 5Gs and 20Gs, respectively.
The hardware and system maker will be demonstrating the ART-3000 fanless embedded box system at the Embedded World 2010 exhibition, in Nuremburg, Germany, between March 2-4. Full information on the product itself may be found on the official product page.
