While some companies in the IT industry made names for themselves by focusing on a certain product portfolio, some decided they would address a wider range of end-users and, thus, deal in a much bigger number of products. VIA is one of the players that makes a point of being an all-rounder, and its latest embedded PC designs are proof of that. The company came out and revealed new products part of the AMOS-5000 series, a line of embedded kits usable in a variety of applications.

The AMOS-5000 line is composed of embedded PC design kits, modular expansion boards and chassis development kits meant to allow developers to create OEM and ODM embedded, fanless box computers. Such computers can be employed in a very wide range of application specific and am-ITX devices. Examples of such uses are next generation digital signage, POI and gaming applications. The VIA AMOS-5110 can be seen as the representative and features the VIA EITX-3000 in tandem with the VIA EMIO-3110 module.

This module comes along with a 64-bit VIA Nano processor and advanced graphics and video processing with a dedicated DirectX 10.1 S3 Graphics 4300E video processor. This GPU has 256 MB of GDDR3 RAM and supports dual-DVI, dual-LVDS, VGA and dual HDMI outputs. As for the actual assets of the embedded PC, VIA threw in the aforementioned fanless design, low power consumption, TV Out + 8 Channel HD audio and a hardware accelerated HD video decoder.

Furthermore, it is notable that the many video outputs open up the possibility to communicate with up to six independently configurable displays, thanks to the existence of up to four separate content streams. The final advantage of the AMOS-5110 is its extendable aluminum chassis system which boasts an optional dual 2.5-inch SATA drive bay. It can be seen in detail on the company's website.
