14 DAY TRIAL // VIA just announced that it has expanded its embedded product line to feature a new series of VIA VID industrial-class touchscreen displays designed for a range of modern interactive kiosk, POI and POS systems. The new series is available in both ruggedized and open-frame configurations and spans in size from 7-inch to 19-inch.
All the panels support display resolutions of up to 1280x1024 pixels, are using LED backlighting and have a maximum screen brightness of 600cd/m2.
In addition, the viewing angles can reach all the way up to 178° and, according to the company, are 30% more energy efficient than conventional CCFL backlit LCDs.
The resistive touch layer connects to the computing system via a 5-wire USB-based interface and all the displays support both HDMI and 15 pin D-Sub VGA video inputs as well as additional mounting options for hard drive and Wi-Fi modules.
VIA VID touchscreens can also be mounted on VESA compatible stands and are optimized for being paired together with VIA EITX-3001 based systems and VIA AMOS 3001 box PC products.
The ruggedized models are installed inside a robust aluminum chassis, which is available in a range of colors, and enabled the displays to operate in temperatures between -10°C and 70°C. These also feature an IP65 water resistance certification.
“With an industry-leading feature set that includes IP65 compliancy, wide-angle viewing, enhanced brightness and low power draw, the VIA VID series ticks all the right boxes for today’s embedded display applications,” said Daniel Wu, vice president, VIA Embedded Platform Division, VIA Technologies.
“The VIA VID series completes our product portfolio as a total embedded solution provider of embedded digital display systems.”
VIA VID series displays are available right now in 15-inch and 12.1-inch ruggedized and open-frame configurations. The 19-inch, 10.4-inch and 7-inch models will be available later this year.
