Recording all those highly-paced, action packed, point-of-view videos that you sometimes see on TV ain't as easy as some of you imagine, special equipment being required especially if you don't want to give up on HD image quality, V.I.O's recently announced POV.HD being just the right tool for the job.

Coming in as a response to those video professionals than need Full HD quality videos, the POV.HD features the same compact form factor as its predecessor but with all-new internal components and functionality, the camera allowing users to records up to 5 hours of crisp HD video.

Furthermore, this comes as a fully rugged offering making it particularly well suited for being mounted on race cars and other fast moving objects, although its lightweight design also makes it fully wearable, for this particular purpose the POV.HD featuring a modular mounting system that allows it to be mounted to goggles and other objects.

When it comes down to recording quality, the POV.HD's 2-oz camera head captures 142 degree FOV at 1080p/30fps, the recorder being run by a Texas Instruments' Da Vinci DM368 video processor supporting a real-time video pipeline that enhances image quality in order to produce clear 1080p H.264 video.

Going for 720 video recording will up the frame rate at 60fps, the recording unit also featuring a 2-inch LCD screen to view footage in the field, edit video and make the correct exposure control adjustments.

Recorded footage is stored on SD card slots, V.I.O stating the POV.HD can take card up to 32GB in capacity, allowing for 4.33 hours of video to be recorded at 1080p resolutions while 480p video raises this value to about 16 hours of recording time.

Unfortunately, no details about pricing are available right now, although I am sure this won't be cheap by any means.
