A knockout of a man, in and out of the ring

British Columbia producer and director Uwe Boll just pulled a publicity stun that saw him off in the ring, on a not so friendly boxing match against four of his internet critics. Uwe Boll has had been involved in the movie making business for a long time, but only the last few years saw him enter the computer world gaming scene with movie adaptation of successful titles like "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale", "BloodRayne", "Alone in the Dark" and "House of the Dead." While the general opinion is that his feature movies are of poor design, a slap in the face of the original masterpieces of gaming ingenuity, his detractors now had a chance to say these words face to face. The three-round boxing match took place on September 23rd at Vancouver's Edgewater Stage, Plaza of Nations.

According to BBC, the former amateur boxer "Deutschland Destroyer" Boll played the first match against challenger Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka, webmaster of Somethingawful, who "was punched so hard his whole family died." Second in line was Jeff Sneider of Austin, Texas-based Ain't It Cool, then Chris Alexander of Toronto's Rue Morgue and lastly, amateur boxer and web editor Nelson Chance Minter. They all met the same fate, and we're not talking about technical wins either; KO is the way Boll goes.

"I was not expecting they would step up to the plate," he said about the now bruised challengers who dared to criticize his film works. "But there is a lesson to be learned here," he victoriously addressed the crowd from the ring-center: "Critics are not writers." All of Uwe Boll's four matches were filmed for a documentary being made about him. It is presumed this entire marketing stunt was pulled off to promote the upcoming Postal game movie tie-in that Boll is directing.
