14 DAY TRIAL // Security experts warn users to be on the lookout for scammy Pokemon X and Y download websites. The sites can host all sorts of adware, malware and other threats disguised as harmless-looking applications.
ThreatTrack Security researchers have come across a Tumblr website called “pokemonxetyromemulateur.” From here, users are redirected to a website promising a Pokemon X and Y emulator download.
Based on their location, internauts are asked to complete surveys and install various applications before they can download anything. The pieces of software served by these websites have nothing to do with Pokemon X and Y.
Experts highlight the fact that adults might recognize these tricks and avoid the bogus download sites. However, kids might fall for it and install all sorts of dangerous/annoying pieces of software.
