At least a couple of variants have been making the rounds

Internet users looking for a work-from-home job are advised to be on the lookout for offers with Atlantics Post LLC. Cybercriminals are using fake job offers to trick unsuspecting people into helping them make their criminal enterprises more difficult to trace.

Dynamoo’s Blog first warned of the Atlantics Post emails in mid-October. However, according to Hoax Slayer, they’re still making the rounds.

“We are now hiring for a Logistic specialist. If you are responsible, active, easy-going person, looking for a great job opportunity with a stable income, this job will suit you,” the emails read.

Another variant reads, “Atlantics Post LLC is now hiring for a Shipping Clerk. If You are young, enthusiastic person. Looking for a great job opportunity with a stable in come this job is for you.”

Potential victims are promised a base salary and bonuses. All they have to do is receive packages and reship them.

In reality, the packages contain items purchased with stolen card information. By having them delivered to an unwitting individual, the crooks make sure the theft can’t be easily traced back to them.

In some cases, the fraudsters also send victims money and instruct them to wire it to them via Western Union.

Those who accept such job offers might be paid, but the payment is also made from hijacked bank accounts or with stolen checks. In some cases, victims might only live under the impression that they’re getting paid, when in reality the scammers use fake checks.

Beware of such job offers! In case you take part in such a scheme, when authorities crack down on the criminal organization, you’ll be the first one they visit, and there can be serious consequences, even if you haven’t realized that you’ve been helping crooks.
