Bitcoin might not be worth as much today as it was a few weeks ago. However, since many people have seen that the virtual currency can represent a “get-rich-quickly” method, Bitcoin is still a topic that can be highly profitable for scammers.
Security experts from Kaspersky have come across a number of scams, including one that references a Bitcoin lottery.
“Your email address is already chosen from the bitcoin lottery company. You able to win around 1000 bitcoin. Now is the bitcoin current change rate is 1bitcoin=1000$$$. How can i u win? Just open the link a make a quick survey. I am offer you make very fast because next bitcoin lotto is just 1 hour and 45 minute,” the scam emails read.
Of course, there’s no Bitcoin Lottery. The link from these messages points to a website that instructs users to install some shady software.
Kaspersky has spotted several other Bitcoin-themed spam emails over the past period. Check out the gallery to see what they look like.
