One of the benefits of using SkyDrive is the possibility to eliminate attachments from your work and to improve collaboration with colleagues or between two or more teams.

With SkyDrive and its collaboration features, working together on the same document is easier than before, given the fact that all parties have access to the very same copy of the document at the same time.

This means that there will be no more sending and receiving of tons of attachments and no need to keep track of different document versions that you are working on.

Fewer emails to send could easily result in better focus on your actual work, and this is exactly what Microsoft planned for SkyDrive.

“Every day, the average office worker receives over 170 email messages a day, and sends over 35,” Lia Yu, a product marketer on the SkyDrive team, explains in a blog post.

“With that kind of volume, it’s understandable that over half of the average work day consists of dealing with email. That’s over 1000 hours a year. It’s worth taking a look at where people can save some time on the process.”

Considering these numbers, it becomes clear that a cloud solution can easily prove a great alternative to all parties involved.

Today, SkyDrive is available for access from a multitude of devices, including the Windows PC, Mac computers, Windows Phones, iPhones. This means that all the documents you need are within your grasp regardless your location.

“Instead of emailing docs back and forth for group editing, SkyDrive lets you edit the doc in one place using Office Web Apps or Office on your PC and Mac—saving all your versions in one place,” Lia Yu notes.

“Sharing files, large or small, is also easier on SkyDrive because you can send out a link to the doc to avoid attachment size limits. Also, you can use the link to edit the doc even after you send it to others.”
