According to those enrolled with Apple for the iPhone Developer Program, an unintended update to the License Agreement was released following Tuesday’s outage with a placeholder referencing a Jan. 27 launch. The altered agreement suggests an updated iPhone OS will be presented around Apple's tablet unveiling today.

According to AppleInsider, which doesn’t cite any source whatsoever, “The placeholder can be found on the signup for Apple's iPhone Developer Program and reads: ‘Need to update this for the 27th launch.’” According to the site’s analysis, “With Apple's Jan. 27th event drawing ever closer, this placeholder suggests that an updated iPhone OS may be presented along side the ‘confirmed’ tablet.”

A link is then provided to a report regarding Terry McGraw’s confirmation to CNBC that Apple not only has the tablet ready for today’s announcement, but that the device runs on the iPhone OS (most likely an enhanced version of the software), and that McGraw-Hill has been collaborating with the Mac maker for quite a while, to bring textbooks to the platform.

“Yeah, Very exciting. Yes, they’ll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while, and the tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable…,” Terry McGraw told CNBC. “We have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95% of all our materials that are in e-book format. So now with the tablet you’re going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific.”

Earlier this week, Softpedia reported that analytics firm Flurry Inc. had identified approximately 50 devices that matched the characteristics of Apple's rumored tablet device throughout the entire time it had tracked iPhone apps. According to Flurry, Apple tablets running iPhone OS 3.2 began to appear over the weekend, running a number of iPhone apps from categories including Games, Entertainment, News & Books and Lifestyle.
