Microsoft has just announced the release of a new version on their Windows Phone Training Kit, the tools they offer to app builders interested in coming up with new software for the Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system.

The new release of the Windows Phone Training Kit packs a series of fixes and some new labs. Moreover, it includes a refresh to almost all labs, which are now confirmed to be working on real phones too, not only in the emulator.

“It has been a while since we updated the Windows Phone Training Kit and we are happy to announce that today we release updates (bug fix) and few new labs,” a recent post on the Windows Phone Developer Blog reads.

The post notes that the online training kit was updated too, and that two new labs, Accessing Windows Phone 7 Devices and Multi-touch Game Development XNA Framework, have been added to the Training Kit.

“Accessing Windows Phone 7 Devices is a lab that lets you work with the phone’s camera and location services. The Windows Phone 7 is equipped with a Camera and GPS (global positioning system). Developers can leverage these devices to build location-aware applications and take live photos,” Microsoft notes.

The lab would walk developers through all the steps they would need to make for integrating their applications with with the phone’s camera. Moreover, it would also offer the possibility to place the photo on the map using “fake” location.

Multi-touch Game Development with XNA Framework has been released as part of the complete XNA tutorial on App Hub, Microsoft states.

“The lab introduces you to multi-touch enabled game development on Windows Phone 7 using XNA Game Studio, the Windows Phone Developer tools and Visual Studio 2010. During the lab, you will build a simple 2D game using XNA Game Studio,” the said post continues.

Multi-touch input is needed for playing the game, and the lab would be focused on showing the manner in which one could support these inputs.

“As we said, we also updated most of our labs. In particular we’ve update the Using Chooser and Launcher lab to work with the entire Chooser and Launchers family (except the marketplace),” the post stated. The Using Push Notification lab was updated too, so that it uses the latest Windows Phone Push Notification Library.

The Windows Phone Training Kit is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
