Google Picasa was quietly improved and released for free download although the Mountain View-based company didn't make any official statement concerning the update. According to the changelog published by the search giant, Picasa version 2.7, build 36.37 was released on April 24, 2007 with a few minor improvements. Along with the compatibility with Google Photos Screensaver, the new edition of the application offers an improved BlogThis! reliability and support for more cameras. It seems that the update isn't currently available through the autoupdate function implemented into the program so, if you want to use the latest release of Picasa, you should download the stand-alone package.

"To make sure you are running the latest version of the software, follow the manual update instructions below. If your software is out of date, you will occasionally receive automatic alerts when you open Picasa that updates are available. You may choose to update at that time. Please note that we don't always auto-update people when new builds are available since some builds contain fixes and/or improvements that are only relevant to a small percentage of users," Google describes the update policy.

Picasa is often regarded as the most powerful photo management application because it provides numerous powerful functions bundled with a freeware license. Since the first release of the program, the number of the users was considerably improved by the promotion tools used by Google. As you might know, Picasa is often presented to the new users by the adverts distributed on AdSense, allowing users to earn money with the program's referrals.

If you want to download the latest release of Picasa for Windows, you can take it straight from Softpedia using this link.
