Mountain View-based Internet giant Google has just announced the availability of a new version of their Google Docs for mobile, aimed at bringing a range of new features on the smaller screens of mobile phones.

At times when they are not near a computer, users can take advantage of the various capabilities that Google Docs has to offer by accessing the service on the browsers on their handsets.

“Google Docs is about collaboration, but as many of us know, others often rely on us even when we’re nowhere near a computer,” Hossein Attar, software engineer, Google, notes in a recent blog post.

“That’s why we’re excited to bring the features you need to your tablet and mobile device’s browser,” he continues.

Google Docs on mobile devices has got updated with a new look, and those who will access it on the browsers on their handsets will enjoy features that include the ability to sort, narrow, and share multiple docs that are present in user's mobile docs list.

Those who would like to try out the upgraded service will simply have to go to docs.google.com via the browser on their handsets, as long as the device is supported.

“Press Sort to organize the list of docs visible in the mobile browser, or press Narrow by to specify the subset of docs you’d like to see,” Attar explains.

When it comes to sharing a document from the mobile browser, things are as simple as they would be when trying to make the move on a desktop computer.

“To share from your mobile docs list, select one or more documents, press the Share button, and select Share, Get the link to share for public or unlisted docs, or Email as attachment,” Attar continues.

Google is set to bring further enhancements to the experience users receive when accessing Google Docs on their mobile phones. Those who will try out the updated service should provide feedback on the matter, so that more improvements are added into the mix.
