14 DAY TRIAL // Owners of mobile phones running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system now have a new, updated flavor of the Foursquare application available for download for their devices.
The new Foursquare 2.0 application for Windows Phone 7 comes with a wide range of new features included into the mix, along with new looks, and various other enhancements packed inside, meant to complement what the software was already capable of offering to users.
Apparently, the new release of the mobile software emerged as part of a collaboration between Foursquare and Microsoft, and was aimed at delivering the best experience possible on handsets running under the company's platform.
Some of the main features of the new application release include:
- Panorama dashboard view of updated places, friends, me and explore - Super-fast check-in via one click “tap and hold” on places in the panorama - Leaderboard Live Tile - Useful new sorts, e.g. places by “here now”, friends by “name” - Mapping of nearby places, friends and specials.
However, these are only some of the enhancements that were packed with the new version of the application, it seems.
The main focus with the new application was to deliver a brand new experience to users, with a new, redesigned metro UEX included into the mix, and what is said to be redefined customer’s interactions and expectations.
“We collaborated with Microsoft to develop the app entirely on our open API v2. The new version really speaks to the distinctive capabilities (and slick design!) of Windows Phone, while maintaining the foursquare features you know and love,” the development team notes.
“Playing around with it, what’s cool is that it feels both familiar and new, with a personalized experience through the lens of Windows Phone 7′s panoramic UI.”
Following the release of the official Foursquare 2.0 application for Windows Phone 7, a Foursquare 2.1 patch update was already made available for download via the Windows Phone Marketplace, and can be found here.
