The reason: Quality issue

Microsoft has decided to cancel the security patch which was announced for this Tuesday. This month's security update was rated as critical and Microsoft said it will also launch an updated version of Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

But Microsoft discovered an unspecified quality issue with the software patch it had planned to release next Tuesday.

"It was a quality issue," said a Microsoft spokesperson. "They found something that made them realize that it was best not to release [the patch] this month,"

"Microsoft is committed to only releasing high quality updates that fix the issue(s) in question, and therefore we feel it is in the best interest of our customers to not release this update until it undergoes further testing.", officials noted on the site.

No further details were given, but Microsoft's officials said they will still release an updated version of its Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, which can be downloaded through Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services or the company's download center. The non-security high-priority patch for Windows will be also available.
