A couple of weeks ago I was writing about a new rumor, which stated that Leica could announce their first mirrorless digital camera sometime in early 2014.

Leica is known to collaborate with Panasonic on the compact camera front, and now it seems that they want to create a completely new mirrorless camera under their brand name.

According to 43rumors, trusted sources have confirmed that Leica is going to create an entire new mirrorless system using their own mount, which would take its place in the high-end mirrorless segment.

Apparently, the new Leica mirrorless camera won't be using Panasonic's Micro Four Thirds model at all. The same source states that Panasonic is thinking to adopt the new Leica system for their upcoming cameras, which would come as a surprise for many Panasonic MFT fans.

Whether this will happen or not it remains to be confirmed in the following months. Stay tuned as we try to find out more about this interesting partnership between Leica and Panasonic.
