A new large scale Kickstarter project has emerged, brought to you by Playdek and Yasumi Matsuno, designer of Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII.

Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians is designed as the spiritual successor to Yasumi Matsuno's Final Fantasy Tactics, aiming to deliver a new, modern take on the turn-based tactics genre.

Playdek, publisher of acclaimed board games like Lords of Waterdeep, and Ascension, and other popular titles that also made the transition to mobile platforms, has partnered with the famous Japanese designer in order to develop a challenging and immersive game, set in a rich fantasy game world.

Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians presents an epic historic journey, as seen through the eyes of those that are often forgotten by the passing of time, in an effort to present a fresh perspective, differing from the emerging hero arcs usually presented in such titles.

The game will be set in the fantasy world of Rasfalia and will present the struggles of the Seventy Seven Years War between its great kingdoms and empires, from each faction's perspective.

Consequently, players will experience different vantage points in order to gain a more insightful view of the great conflict, with some episodes spanning a single year and others sprawling across a decade or even more.

The world of Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians is filled with intrigue and betrayal, hidden alliances and espionage, and will be brought to life and shaped by players' decisions.

Battles will take place on a 3D landscape, and units will be profession-based, with each profession having multiple classes, each one with its own characteristics.

The class-centric tactical turn-based combat will offer deep game mechanics that allow players to tackle warfare in their own particular way, and also adapt to the demands of the scenarios they are presented with.
