14 DAY TRIAL // Well. It's really nice to see intelligent people bringing software to a new level; it's the case with Italian programmer going by the name Asder00 (guru3d.com forums), a guy who has acquainted us to new custom AMD software every now and then.
This time we're quite happy to announce the new, custom and unofficial Catalyst 12.3 RC display drivers for AMD cards, now supporting Windows XP. While AMD seem to have completely forgotten about all those who are still using XP, Asder00 has put some effort into creating a Catalyst for HD 7700, HD 7800, and HD 7900 graphic cards.
Truly, this is one thing a lot have been hoping for, though few thought they would ever see it. The 12.3 RC comes with OpenGL version 6.14.10.11545, Direct 3D version 6.14.10.0894, Catalyst Control Center 2012.0124.1943.35355, while the driver version is 8.950.0.0000.
No detailed info on how this driver performs, but so far it looks like there still are some bugs in it. Issues like wrong PCIe addressing and Morphologic Filtering have been reported, and will maybe receive fixes. Nevertheless, we're talking about testing and possibilities here, since running an HD 7970 with XP might seem a bit weird.
