Recently launched in the UK via Vodafone, Samsung Galaxy S Plus is now available carrier-free for around $545.

It appears that major retailer Expansys is now selling the smartphone, but cannot offer a confirmed lead time for the item.

Although Expansys normally sends the items ordered in less than 5 days, in this case it is recommended to call for more details.

Those who prefer a cheaper price can still get the Galaxy S Plus from Vodafone UK for free with a two-year £31 per month plan.

In either cases customers will be able to get it much cheaper in comparison with the phone's initial suggested retail price of $780.

Those who are not yet familiar with Samsung's Galaxy S Plus should know that this looks more like a premium handset and comes with a metal backplate.

The Galaxy S Plus is an updated Galaxy S, but it's no match for the Galaxy S II, which is Samsung's Android flagship smartphone.

In this regard we should mention that the phone is equipped with a single core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, complemented by a standard Adreno 205 GPU.

According to the manufacturer, the phone's processor was especially designed for low power consumption.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S Plus is powered by the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform and features a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

In addition, it packs 8 GB of internal memory, 512 MB RAM, 2GB ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

A standard set of connectivity options have also been included: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, USB and built-in GPS.

The phone's standard 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 625 hours of standby time or up to 6 hours of talk time on 3G mode.
