AT&T customers who are willing to subscribe to both Cingular Wireless and traditional phone services will be able to make and receive unlimited free calls to and from any other AT&T and Cingular (now also AT&T) customers.

Cingular was already offering free in-network calls for its approximately 60 million mobile phone customers. But now that AT&T, Cingular and BellSouth are one big happy family, after AT&T's complete acquisition of BellSouth Corp., and thus Cingular Wireless, both newly acquired companies will be renamed under the AT&T brand, AT&T's customers will be able to talk for free with both AT&T wireless and landline users.

"AT&T Unity is the ideal way to introduce our customers to the real power of combining wireless and wireline services into an appealing offering that delivers value, flexibility and convenience," said Edward E. Whitacre Jr., chairman and CEO of AT&T. "More than two years ago, Cingular Wireless, now the new AT&T, raised the bar by creating the largest unlimited wireless calling community in America - a feat no competitor has been able to duplicate. With AT&T Unity, we are raising the bar even higher by adding unlimited domestic calling to and from AT&T wireline customers."

To qualify for this offering, one needs to be both a cellular subscriber and have an unlimited local and long-distance account for a landline within the company's 22-state region, which now includes the local service area of BellSouth.

However, the offer will not be available for AT&T CallVantage Internet phone service subscribers or customers with a regular AT&T home or office line in states where another company owns the local phone network. The service will be available starting Sunday and it will consist of approximately 100 million phone numbers.
