Owners of devices running under the Symbian operating system can now enjoy an updated Universal Search on their devices, which will make it much easier than before to find various things on the handset.

The tool has just been enhanced, but it remains available only in a beta flavor for the time being, although it is capable of offering a much better experience than before.

According to the guys over at Nokia Beta Labs, Universal Search on Symbian has been in a closed beta trial for the past several weeks, yet those who would like to give it a try will find it available for download now.

As stated above, the new tool has been designed to provide users with fast finding of anything on the handset in their hands.

Whether it comes to contacts, messages, application or music, Universal Search will find it fast and easy. It can also access the Nokia Maps and the Nokia Store, and can also go on the web to find what the user is looking for.

“Everything is just a tap or two away with Universal Search Beta - making your Nokia phone your tool for planning and doing, finding and going. Just enter a query from the home screen for personalized results and suggestions as you type,” Nokia Beta Labs explains.

“You’ll discover all the information you need, whether it’s on your phone or the web. And because it’s your phone, Universal Search Beta is smarter—using your location, usage and preferences to deliver the results most important to you.

“Universal Search Beta results work seamlessly with the applications on your Nokia phone, so you can act immediately. Just tap to call a friend, download a game, map an address or browse the web. It’s that simple.”
