The shooter game genre is a very popular one, with a lot of developers creating titles based on a first-person view and arming the main character with a wide variety of fictional weapons. Seeing the growing popularity of these games, the United States Army has decided to create its own title, based on the conditions found in its service and trying to make young people more interested in joining the force.

As such, America's Army was born, a realistic shooter that focused on delivering the most life-like army experience to the players. From the training missions to the real ones in various war zones like Iraq or Afghanistan, the game became very popular, and, coupled with the fact that it was completely free to download and play, quickly became a favorite of gamers across the world, not only the ones from North America.

Now it seems that the whole experience will get a fresh revamp, as the third title, America's Army 3, has just been announced by representatives of the US Army. The game, exclusively for the PC, was developed using the Unreal Engine 3 and promises to deliver the most realistic fighting experience with varied missions and other innovations.

“In AA3 we've taken all of the best features in AA2, incorporated feedback from the AA community and added the latest technology to develop a high-tech game that can be customized by the player to create a much more detailed interactive experience,” said Michael Bode, executive producer of the America's Army game. “One of our key design philosophies is to make the game easily accessible to a new player, while at the same time keeping a deeper layer of complexity for the more advanced players to discover and take advantage of.”

It definitely sounds like PC gamers will have something to do while other games will start to slowly appear on this platform. Let's not forget that America's Army is a pretty decent shooter and the fact that it's free makes it a prime candidate for playing. If and how this will affect young people and determine them to join the Army remains to be seen. Be on the lookout for its release this year.
