A United Airlines flight has been diverted after the pilot suffered a fatal heart attack in mid-air.

The plane was flying from Houston, Texas to Seattle, Washington and made an emergency landing in Boise, Idaho.

The crew stepped in and helped land the plane and they also called out for help from passengers via the intercom. They asked if any doctors were on board.

A crew member's 911 call has been included in the news report above.

“We got a man down, chest compressions going on right now. I’m not sure too much right now the status. [...] Can an ambulance and maybe some air stairs meet us on the runway?” he says.

The Boeing 737 landed safely with 161 passengers and six crew members aboard, ABC News reports. The pilot has been pronounced dead at the hospital.
