They integrate endpoint management solutions

It's a good thing for your network to run proper security modules, but you also have to think about the fact that data needs to be managed easily. In any case, you must be careful what security measure you deploy in order to keep things safe, but also nice and simple. Now, Symantec has announced the integration of its extensive endpoint management portfolio. I haven't actually gotten my hands on anything yet, so that I can't issue a proper opinion, but they say that this will help their clients automate management requirements and reduce the cost of owning endpoint devices. Also, they're having a crack at better application and password management via Altiris Privilege Management Essentials. It seems to me that they're thinking of everything.

Greg Butterfield, Symantec group president, Altiris business unit, said, "Years ago, Symantec recognized the growing interdependence between strong security and effective management of data and systems. Symantec today is unique in being able to provide security and management solutions for the most complex data center environment to the smallest handheld computing device. The Altiris business unit of Symantec helps customers gain confidence and efficiencies through automated management and protection of data at the endpoint."

"Symantec continues to deliver solutions that allow us to effectively manage our endpoints and secure our members' sensitive information," said Kevin Donnellan, assistant CIO, Screen Actors Guild--Producers Pension and Health Plan. "The addition of Altiris technology provides us with a single, comprehensive endpoint management solution to help reduce cost and complexity while increasing security."

So, if you are a Symantec fan, you could get the PC imaging, deployment, migration and lifecycle management capabilities with the combination of Ghost Solution Suite and the Altiris product portfolio. I'm not telling you that their software is the best, or that this is the thing to buy, but they are security giants and should be taken into consideration when talking about what security software should be employed.
