Beware of untrusted Twitter applications

A lot of posts can be seen these days on Tweeter, allegedly coming from a social media customer that alerts others on the fact that a large number of people unfollowed him.

“45 ppl unfollowed me. Want to see who unfollowed you? Find out Here [Link] [hashtag],” reads the phony tweet.

Once the link is clicked, the unsuspecting victim is taken to a page that advertises a so-called “Followers Monitor” app, which requires the user to log-in to his Twitter account, Trend Micro reports.

In reality, the malicious application gives others access to your account, allowing them to read tweets, update your profile, and even post messages on your behalf.

To make sure that as many users as possible fall for the scam, the masterminds that run it included hashtags that were taken from trending topics.

I advise you to beware of these types of tweets and check out any fabulous apps before installing them to protect your assets against malevolent plots.
