Madagascar's underwater caves are home to some utterly weird species

A short video recently made public sheds some light on the life of blind creatures living in some of Madagascar's underwater caves.

The video focuses on the blind shrimp, an eyeless creature that uses its antennas to locate food scattered around its natural habitat. Because no light ever reaches it, this particular shrimp is also color-free, as it has no use for pigments.

One other amazing creature shown in this video is the blind cave fish, which very much resembles said shrimp. Also eyeless and white, this cave fish is known to feed on the blind shrimps which happen to cross its path.

Scientists are still amazed over how the hunt actually takes place, seeing that none of these creatures has eyes so as to be able to rely on visual cues.

We hope that this video brings awareness to the fact that, most likely without our knowing it, fascinating creatures live in the darkest of places and need be protected from human activities that might disturb their natural habitats.
