The Uncharted game that will appear for Sony's Next Generation Portable will be a prequel to the first title released on the PlayStation 3, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Sony surprised a lot of people at the beginning of the year when it showcased a fully functional Uncharted game for its Next Generation Portable device.

The new console, which is going to effectively act as a PSP 2, was demoed through a variety of quality games.

Now, the first piece of information about the game has appeared, through the voice of Christophe Balestra, the co-president of development studio Naughty Dog, which created the Uncharted franchise for the PlayStation 3.

According to him, Uncharted on the NGP will act as a prequel in terms of story, meaning it will see protagonist Nathan Drake, go on different types of adventures before the start of the first PS3 Uncharted game, Drake's Fortune.

The co-president was rumored, via Kotaku, to have said earlier last week that Uncharted on the NGP would act both as a prequel to the first game and as a sequel that fits between the two console games, Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves.

He clarified things by posting on his Twitter account that the future game for the portable console is just going to be a prequel in terms of story.

Sony is pulling out all the stops in order to make its upcoming Next Generation Portable device a success, and this means that many of its exclusive franchises are going to appear on it, including the likes of Uncharted, Resistance and many more.

The NGP still doesn't have a release date. However, Uncharted fans are going to have to make do with the upcoming Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which is out for the PlayStation 3 later this year, on November 1, in North America, and November 4, in Europe and the UK.
