Uncharted: Golden Abyss, the upcoming game in the action adventure series designed for the PlayStation Vita handheld console, has just received a new story trailer, uncovering some new characters and showcasing more gameplay from the new title.

Sony and Naughty Dog's Uncharted series has been very successful on the PlayStation 3, so the Japanese corporation is more than willing to make use of it to promote the upcoming PlayStation Vita handheld console.

As such, the Sony Bend Studio is now working on Uncharted: Golden Abyss, a new adventure that stars the franchise's leading man Nathan Drake, set between the first and the second games in the series.

We already heard quite a few details about the new title and now, right after the end of Gamescom 2011, Sony has published a new trailer for the game, showcasing a never-before-seen character, in the form of Marissa Chase, alongside the already known Jason Dante, a former colleague of Drake.

"This time we’re introducing Marisa Chase — but as she tells Drake at one point, call her “Chase,” only her grandfather calls her “Marisa.” I don’t want to give too much away at this point, but I can say this: once again Nathan Drake finds himself on a quest to solve a historical mystery which he hopes will lead to a fantastic treasure. The trick is staying alive long enough to get there. No easy task. And when Drake gets between Dante and Chase, events spiral out of control quickly," said Uncharted: Golden Abyss writer, John Garvin.

The Sony Bend developer has also confirmed that voice actor Nolan North is reprising his role as Nathan Drake in Golden Abyss, playing a huge role not just in bringing the character to life but also in refining the dialog and the interaction between characters. Christine Laken is lending her voice to Chase, while Dante will be played by another veteran voice actor, Jason Spisak.

We already published a hands-on with Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the PlayStation Vita during Gamescom 2011 last week, and you can expect the game to appear next year, alongside the actual portable console.
