Naughty Dog, the studio behind the long-running Uncharted series, believes that the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is going to deliver the ultimate experience in the franchise so far, as all the team members want to make a game that evolves the whole recipe.

Uncharted titles have delivered some pretty great experiences over the years, blending third-person shooters with dynamic action adventure mechanics, while borrowing some of the best story ideas from movies like Indiana Jones and many others.

The games have earned the series tens of millions of fans all over the world and many of them are now looking forward to Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the next iteration in the franchise, which could appear as early as this fall for the PS4 console.

Naughty Dog is fueled by passion

After receiving quite a few details this week, GameSpot brings forth new info from the latest issue of GameInformer, featuring statements of Game Director Bruce Straley.

According to the developer, the team is certainly questioning itself when it comes to the design of the game, but the internal desire to evolve the recipe keeps all the staff on track and gives them the confidence necessary to create exciting things for players to enjoy.

"We're constantly questioning how to do this better. We're driven by … we want to create an experience that resonates with the player, and what we're trying to do is create amazingly rich characters and an adventure that these characters can go on. All these things have to make sense and they have to click together with the controller in your hand. And I want to feel engaged," he explains.

Uncharted 4 will be the ultimate experience

Straley also highlights the core goal of the new game, which is to deliver the ultimate Uncharted experience, as it has the potential to usher in a new age for the long-running series. What's more, some of the things learned from the studio's last project, The Last of Us, are going to help the new title.

"I don't want to just play the same game as I've always played before. So we're going to evolve it," he says. "And then we did The Last of Us and that gave us new concepts about how to evolve things. Each time, it's not like as developers we're like, 'I'm bored.' We as players, we want to play a game that is the ultimate Uncharted that we think this thing could be. It has such great potential."

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is expected to launch in the fall of 2015, but right now no exact release date is known.
