No wait before play time

Christophe Balestra, who is the co-president of developer Naughty Dog, has announced that its upcoming title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, will not require the player to install it to the hard drive of the PlayStation 3. The new was delivered, in Web 2.0 fashion, via Twitter, as Balestra stated, quite clearly, that “Uncharted 2 does not require any install.”

The statement from the official appeared because a typo on the box art of the game was widely cited as definite proof that Uncharted 2 would needing about 1.7 gigabytes of space before it can be played.

It seems that this error will be corrected so that potential buyers are not put off by the space needed or by the potential long time the install might take. The PlayStation 3 is widely panned by critics for the long time that it needs to perform the install sequence for some titles.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is another exclusive that Sony has in its lineup for the PlayStation 3 this year, hoping to attract more gamers to the device that is third in a sales chart for current gen gaming consoles, behind the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

The game will again tell the adventures of Nathan Drake, delivered in even better graphics than those of the original title in the series. There will also be a new multiplayer mode allowing players to take each other on as they carry around statues instead of the much more common flags.

Uncharted 2 is set to be released on October 13, giving it about a month to sell big before the unstoppable release of Modern Warfare 2, which is also coming to the PlayStation 3 and will sell by the boat load whether it has a mandatory release or not.
