The past few years might have not been great for Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson, but 2011 might just change that, with the launch of new devices that would prove much more appealing to end-users than some of the latest handsets from the company.

We already had the chance to take a look at the company's new Xperia arc handset, but it seems that things might not end here, and that the rumored PlayStation phone would also add to the lineup, as well as a Sony Ericsson MT15i device.

The new phone sports similar looks with the Symbian-based Vivaz, though it would run under Google's Android operating system, it seems, while being part of the Xperia family, as the photos attached to this article show.

The yet unannounced Sony Ericsson MT15i would sport enhanced hardware compared to the older device, along with Sony Ericsson's proprietary interface on top of Google's Android platform.

The new device might be based on the recently released Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, a recent article on mobile-review, which already got the chance to play with one unit, notes.

The touchscreen display on this device is said to boast a 854 x 480 pixels resolution, the same as the Reality Display on Xperia arc.

At the same time, the phone is expected to land on shelves with a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7630 applications processor with Adreno 205 graphics, complemented by 512MB of RAM.

Other great features should also be present with this device, though mobile-review says that it would be launched only as a mid-range handset. However, it remains to be seen what exactly would Sony Ericsson announce officially on it to learn more on this.

For the time being, specific info on when would the new mobile phone land on shelves, or at what cost, is not available either, though there are great chances that Sony Ericsson would be set to make it official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
