It’s only been several days since Nokia launched its new flagship Windows Phone handset, the Lumia 1020, and the Finnish company is now readying another smartphone powered by Microsoft’s mobile platform.

The mysterious device has yet to be officially announced, but documents filed by Nokia at the Chinese communication regulatory commission (TENAA) reveal the name of the smartphone as Lumia 625.

According to Engadget, the Nokia Lumia 625 that has just appeared in China strongly resembles another Nokia device that passed through the FCC (Federal Communication Commission) last month and goes by the codename RM-941.

It appears that Nokia Lumia 625 is expected to hit shelves in China at the end of this month and sources close to the matter claim that the smartphone will be available for around 2,000 Yuan outright, which is about $325 or €250.

Given the fact that the smartphone has already been approved by FCC, there’s a high chance that Nokia Lumia 625 will also be released in North America in the following weeks, but the information has yet to be confirmed.

Hardware-wise, the Lumia 625 is a slight improvement from its predecessor, the Lumia 620. The former is said to feature a better 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, along with a much larger 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

It also packs a much better 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery that should offer more standby and talk time than Lumia 620’s 1,300 mAh Li-Ion battery.

The unannounced smartphone features the same amount of RAM as the Lumia 620, 512MB, and is confirmed to support GSM / WCDMA / HSPA networks.

However, the folks at Engadget claim that Nokia Lumia 625 might also offer LTE support, though none of the documents filed at TENAA confirms it yet. No word on the camera and amount of storage, but stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
