14 DAY TRIAL // Capcom released a new video, highlighting incoming changes in the scheduled upgrade to Street Fighter IV, titled Ultra Street Fighter IV and adding new modes, characters and other fixes.
Along with various balance tweaks, the update is to introduce six new stages and five new characters, in the form of Rolento, Elena, Hugo, Poison and another new, yet unannounced fighter.
The first four have already been featured in the Street Fighter X Tekken game, and the developers commented that their gameplay mechanics will be altered in order to suit Street Fighter's pace.
Feedback from the community has led Capcom to remove all unblockable moves and to insert two new mechanics, Red Focus Attack and Ultra Combo Double.
Red Focus attack, while similar to the existing Focus Attack system, also brings the ability to absorb damage from multiple attacks at the cost of the Super Meter.
While it has been stated that the move can be dash cancelled, no additional information regarding how the attack is executed or how much meter it will cost has been made public until now.
Ultra Combo Double will allow players to select both of their fighter's Ultra Combos instead of just one, with a downside. Each of the combos will do less damage, in a trade-off between utility and power. The ability to use a single Ultra Combo will still be a viable choice.
The video showcases both these new mechanics as well as the changes to team battles and the introduction of the new ability to practice and train online.
The upgrade will be distributed as both a paid downloadable update for Super Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, for $15 / €11, as well as a standalone retail title going for $30 / €22, as GameInformer reports.
The upcoming update to the legendary brawler Street Fighter 4 has been announced for release in early 2014. It will debut in Japanese arcades in April, on consoles in June and on PC in August.
