Tablets are becoming the new standard in technology, but more and more brand manufacturers are looking to improve their standards, sources familiar with the matter have said to DigiTimes.

According to them, Japan panel makers are gearing up to boost their presence on the Ultra HD tablet market.

Most notably, Japan Display will start production of 12.1-inch panels featuring a whopping 365ppi. Joining the bandwagon is, of course, Panasonic, a company that has already revealed its massive 20-inch Toughpad UT-MB5 tablet with a resolution of 3840 x 2560 pixels.

Last but not least, Samsung Electronics is also joining the party with its 13.3-inch ATIV Q device featuring a 3200 x 1800 resolution.

Sources familiar with market trends believe that the pushing out of Ultra HD tablets will become the norm for 2014.
