The developers at EA Sports working on the arcade focused NFL Blitz have announced that the game will offer an Ultimate Team game mode which will allow gamers to collect player cards, trade them with others and even gamble them for potential bigger rewards.

All players who will purchase NFL Blitz will be given a starting pack of cards, including both players and a number of power-ups, that can be used in versus games immediately.

But the cards come with a limited time contract to the player, meaning that he will have to use so called Blitz Bucks to keep them active.

Those who trade a lot will also have access to Pro and then Ultimate Players, who come with an unlimited contract and with maxed out stats to make them formidable on the field.

Those who are looking for Blitz Bucks will be able to get them by playing the other online modes, which includes a cooperative game and the versus oriented Blitz Battle.

EA Sports is also including something called Risk & Reward in the Ultimate Team mode, allowing players to take one card off a defeated opponent, something that will surely lead to much gloating when the game is launched.

It's not yet clear whether the Blitz Bucks will also be offered in the official store of NFL Blitz for real world money or if they are only acquired through direct play.

NFL Blitz is set to be launched on January 10 of 2012 on the Xbox Live Arcade service and on the PlayStation Network for 12000 Microsoft Points or 15 dollars (a little over 11 Euro).

The game will reboot the NFL Blitz series and will offer an alternative to the simulation minded Madden NFL 12, which has long been a hit for Electronic Arts.

The developers have revealed that late hits will be removed from the game, despite its arcade nature.
