With the release date of May 25 approaching for UFC Undisputed 2010, developer Yuke's and publisher THQ are keen on offering more details on the new installment of the Ultimate Fighting simulation that will be arriving on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft. A companion game based on the UFC is also set to be released on the PSP handheld.

One of the new features of the game will be the Ultimate Fights Mode, which will replace the Classic Fights Mode seen in 2009. There are 20 Ultimate Fights offered for the PS3 and just 15 for the Microsoft home console.

The concept behind the game mode is to see and play some of the biggest clashes from the history of the franchise, both in single player mode, where gamers can unlock a host of new content associated with the fights, and in a two-player cooperative mode that introduces special commentary and presentation options.

The mode will offer the full context for the fight, featuring short interviews with both the fighters involved and a montage showing off the highlights. The options allow the player to get into the combat gear of the fighter who lost and rewrite history or simply relive the fights and try to pull the same moves. After the event itself is finished, the player will get a chance to see even more video content linked to the historical fight.

Those who pick up UFC Undisputed 2010 for the PlayStation 3 will be getting access to a number of exclusive battles, which will not be coming to the Xbox 360, at least initially. They include: Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann from UFN 18, Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia taken from UFC 102; Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie from UFC 60; Keith Jardine vs. Forrest Griffin from UFC 66 and Martin Kampmann vs. Drew McFredries from UFC 68.
